The actual value is two-fold. Space (though not necessarily depth, as discussed above). And a move to wireless. Yes, you can do wireless now, but until these jacks are removed, it won’t fully take off. Why not keep 3.5-inch floppy drives in Macs? Why not CD-ROM drives? Why not ethernet ports? Etc. Etc. Etc. At some point, it’s time to move on. And while you could keep the legacy stuff in place, that’s the Frankenstein solution. If you want to legacy option, there’s the past two years of iPhones at a discounted price…
